There is more than one way to build a career
Football careers rarely follow the perfect path.
For Woobens Pacius, the journey has already taken him through Canada, Major League Soccer and now France.
The Haitian international first made his name with Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League before earning his move to Nashville. Now, his next opportunity will come with FC Rouen 1899 after Nashville permanently transferred the forward to the French club while retaining a percentage of a future sale.
It is another move, but the pathway behind it is what makes the story interesting.
Finding the right opportunity
Pacius never fully established himself as a regular in Nashville's first team.
He made 18 appearances and scored twice during his time with the club, while also getting minutes elsewhere in the American soccer pyramid.
Now France gives him something different: another environment, another league and another chance to establish himself.
Sometimes development isn't about immediately finding the biggest stage.
Sometimes it is about finding the place where the next step makes sense.
Canada. MLS. France.
That is what makes Pacius' journey worth following.
For players from Haiti and the wider Caribbean, the road to European football does not always have to begin in Europe.
Pacius built his reputation in Canada. That earned him an MLS opportunity. Now that experience has helped open another door in France.
It hasn't been a straight line.
But professional careers rarely are.
Rouen is simply the next test.
